A Designer Spotlight on Designstudio speziell®
A closer look at the minds behind Marino

Our Designer Spotlight offers a closer look at the designers behind their work – their thinking, process and what shapes their approach.

Few studios balance technical precision and restraint as convincingly as Designstudio speziell®. Founded in 2002, the practice is shaped by the creative vision of Sybille Fleckenstein and Jens Pohlmann.

Working across industrial and spatial design, the studio creates solutions that are not only technically refined but also quietly expressive. At its core, their approach is about finding clarity – developing work that is strong in character without ever feeling forced.

A shared vision, rather than a singular signature
This is reflected in their integrative process, which spans product strategy, material innovation and presentation. Notably, it allows them to shape not just individual objects, but entire product narratives.

The consistency of this approach has earned speziell® more than 40 international design awards, underscoring a practice defined by precision and intent rather than excess.

That mindset also defines pulpo's long-standing collaboration with the studio. After first introducing the porcelain vase Parasol in 2015, the partnership resumes a decade later with a new chapter.

Marino sideboard – a sculptural force in ceramic
The Marino sideboard becomes a clear expression of this shared language: extruded ceramic, a deep black glaze and bold, architectural lines come together in a piece that is both rigorous and quietly dramatic.

More than a singular object, Marino reflects a shared approach to design – where precision, restraint and clarity define the outcome.
