RESEARCH PROJECT: WOODEN TUBES MADE FROM SPIRALLY WOUND VENEER

Material research between lightness, strength and aesthetics

Wooden tubes made from spirally wound veneer combine exceptional lightness with high structural strength, a sustainable and material-efficient manufacturing principle, and a unique aesthetic quality. The characteristic spiral grain gives this innovative material, which we have been exploring for several years, a distinctive visual identity.

Through a series of experimental furniture designs, we investigate the aesthetic and functional potential of these wooden tubes. They can serve as load-bearing structural elements, while their hollow interior can also accommodate cable routing, connectors or other integrated functions.

The combination of a renewable raw material, resource-efficient use of material and versatile structural possibilities opens up new perspectives for sustainable and distinctive furniture design.
The wooden tubes can simultaneously function as furniture legs, structural elements, connection points, cable ducts and supports for accessories. Alongside their characteristic appearance and sustainable material efficiency, this multifunctionality is one of their key innovative qualities.
